Continuum Blue, has become a leader in localised three dimensional (3-D) stress analysis of complex multi-layered subsea cables. From single to multi-layered armour cable structures with or without multiple counter-rotating internal structures; Continuum Blue is able to expedite the analysis of these cable structures rapidly. We have developed our on code to build the FEA models from supplied 2D drawings and pitch lengths. The models include the following:
- Full contact (including friction)
- elasto-plasticity for copper alloys (von Mises or Ramberg-Osgood)
- composites for Aramid (Kevlar) Braided structures
Risers provide fluid between subsea apparatus and surface structures such as drilling platforms. Various risers are available from flexible to free standing or top tensioned rigid risers. The design and long term integrity of riser designs requires detailed consideration from joint design through to fatigue performance under varying load conditions, such as tension and bending load conditions. Continuum Blue assesses the performance of risers under various coupled load conditions and can provide fatigue life plots to assess the probability of where and when a design will fail.
